TRANSPORTATION
Make your reservation in advance. The resort is a 40 minute drive from Salt
Lake airport. Canyon Transportation is the official transportation company for
Snowbird. A round trip rate of ~$50 per person is available for 'Plant Genetics 2005' meeting attendees. Make your reservation in advance by contacting Canyon Tranport via any of these methods and be sure
to let them know you are attending the 'Plant Genetics 2005' conference:

Driving Directions
ALTITUDE AWARENESS
Snowbird's breathtaking views are attributed to it's location of ~8,000
feet above sea level and altitude sickness is common. Drink extra amounts
of water prior to and during the meeting to avoid altitude illness.
Decrease salt intake and caffeine and increase carbs, limit physical activity
the first day. Altitude illness can cause headaches, nausea, and tiredness.
Symptoms go away in a day or two.
CHILD CARE
Snowbird's child center is not open in October, however, the concierge
can help you arrange child care if needed at 1-800-232-9542. Plant Genetics
is not providing child care reimbursements.
AERIAL TRAM
Get an up close look at the mountains surrounding Snowbird on the aerial
tram. It will be open especially for our attendees on October 12th. Tickets
and entrance is available at Snowbird Center. Otherwise, it is closed
except for the weekends.
EXERCISE
Hiking is magnificent at Snowbird in October, and the Snowbird
staff will be happy to point you toward the most enjoyable trails. The
Snowbird Canyon Racquet and Fitness Center is a superlative tennis, swimming
and fitness facility. It also offers yoga and aerobics classes. Want to
try something a little different? Rent a mountain bike instead!
SIGHTSEEING
Nearby Salt Lake City combines unparalleled natural recreation,
dynamic nightlife, remarkable history and easy access to 10 national parks.
