ABOUT THE MEETING

YOU should attend
This meeting is designed exclusively for plant geneticists, researchers, educators, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and others interested in the field of plant genetics.

  • Meet 1:1 with international experts.
  • Explore current findings in depth.
  • Review ongoing research and discuss results with peers.
  • Enjoy an intimate gathering of plant geneticists from around the world.
  • Build relationships and share information that will enhance your expertise and your career.

This new ASPB event puts you in touch with the experts. The scientific forums will focus on the effects of genetic variations on the evolution of plant form and function, plant speciation and crop domestication. The setting and schedule are designed to facilitate ongoing interaction between expert presenters and attendees. All speakers will be in attendance throughout the entire conference!

Learn!
Expand your understanding at the scientific forums.

  • 7 general session symposia focused on genomes, chromosomes, chromatin and imprinting, RNA and proteins, developmental genes, resistance genes and more
  • 20+ in-depth presentations by international experts
  • 10+ informative short presentations selected from abstracts submitted by researchers
  • 3 fascinating poster sessions featuring the work of geneticists from around the world

Network!
Build relationships and brainstorm with other attendees at the social events.

  • Opening reception & buffet dinner
  • Farewell dinner party
  • Excellent opportunities to talk daily at meals, between sessions and during 'free' afternoons

Enjoy!
Experience the pleasure of a magnificent mountain resort during its most peaceful season.

Just minutes away from Salt Lake City, the Snowbird Resort and Conference Center is the perfect place for a focused retreat with your peers in plant genetics.

  • Explore the rugged beauty of Little Cottonwood Canyon in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and Uinta National Forest.
  • Ride a scenic Aerial Tram to the top of the mountain and hike down past old mines and spectacular scenery - or take it up at night so you can stargaze.
  • Indulge your body and invigorate your mind at the Snowbird spa or the fitness center.

Dining: All meals are included in your conference registration and we encourage all participants to mix and mingle at these events.

After Hours: Enjoy live music, play a little pool, dance or just have a drink and chat at one of Snowbird's lively, lovely nightspots.

High Altitude: Snowbird's breathtaking views are attributed to it's location of ~7,000 feet above sea level. Drink plenty of water prior to and during the meeting to avoid altitude sickness.

Exercise: Hiking is magnificent at Snowbird in October, and the staff will be happy to point you toward the most enjoyable trails. The Snowbird Canyon Racquet and Fitness Center is a superlative tennis, swimming and fitness facility. It also offers yoga and aerobics classes. Want to try something a little different? Rent a mountain bike instead!

Sightseeing: Nearby Salt Lake City combines unparalleled natural recreation, dynamic nightlife, remarkable history and easy access to 10 national parks.
