Are you a postdoc on the hunt for that most elusive of beasts, a tenure-track assistant professor position? Are you a newly appointed faculty member wondering how to balance the demands of research, teaching, and service? Or are you a mentor to a junior colleague who is on the academic job market or just starting their first faculty appointment?
Don’t panic! This summer, ASPB and CSPP are reprising ASPB’s successful 2007 Laboratory Leadership Workshop. This year’s workshop will run from Thursday, July 29 through Saturday, July 31, just prior to Plant Biology 2010 in Montréal. The workshop is targeted toward scientists pursuing (or already beginning) tenure-track faculty careers in academia.
So, register now to get advice on the academic job search from plant biologists who have experienced both sides of the application, interview, and negotiation processes at institutions of various sizes and types. Join sessions on teaching, getting published, and grantsmanship; receive guidance on navigating the tenure process; learn tips to more effectively manage your time and increase your productivity; find out how to identify mentors who can assist you in your career progression; and learn how you can provide effective mentorship and inspiration to your own trainees. And much more!
We look forward to seeing you in Montréal. So please register now!
